SAVE THE DATE !

Every year, the Association des Juristes Franco-Britanniques (AJFB/FBLS) organises a colloquium to enable all the legal professions to meet, alternatively in France, in England and Wales, and in Scotland, on a topic of general interest for the various legal worlds constituting our civil and common law systems. While celebrating its 12th anniversary, the Northern Irish section is organising our annual colloquium for the first time.

The United Kingdom is set to leave the European Union on 31 October 2019, unless a new postponement is granted. All the sections of the AJFB/ FBLS invite you to Northern-Ireland for our annual colloquium, in an area particularly concerned by Brexit. This event shall attract members of our society, lawyers and non-lawyers as well, from both sides of the Channel. Besides, AJFB/FBLS intends to closely involve eminent speakers from the Republic of Ireland, to enrich our talks and panels.
Because of the current political events in the United Kingdom, the programme is still being finalised. However, we do invite you to already mark your calendars and book your flights and accomodations to attend this event.

The colloquium shall be introduced by the Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland, the Rt. Hon. Sir Declan Morgan, and will consist of three panels around namely the Rt. Hon. Lord Justice Bernard McCloskey, Judge of the Court of Appeal in Northern Ireland, Ian Forrester QC, Judge at the General Court of the European Union, and Tim Eicke QC, Judge at the European Court of Human Rights.

A concluding cocktail and a gala dinner will be given exceptionnaly at Stormont, at the kind invitation of members of the Northern Irish Parliament.

The event is accredited with the Bar Council of Northern Ireland Barristers in England & Wales, CILEx. Solicitors in England & Wales, and in Scotland self-certify. Advocates in Scotland and Solicitors in Northern-Ireland will be eligible to claim for 6,5 CPD hours. The Franco-British Lawyers Society will issue an attendance certificate.
