This project will be a moot based on the trial of Oscar Wilde rather than an exact reconstruction of it. The barristers will be preparing a set of facts based on the trial of Oscar Wilde. It would tend to concentrate more on the libel case than the criminal case.

Thomas Francis will be the applicant and Katherine Elliot the respondent. They are both from 4-5 Gray’s Inn Square. Mark Warby will be the judge for this trial.

Merlin Holland who is Oscar Wilde’s grandson will make an introduction to the moot

The event will happen in three different parts: there will be an introduction of the historic case and some background of the law at the time, then have both parties’ submissions and, finally, we will finish by the judgment.
