The Law Society and the French Bar (Conseil National des Barreaux) are organising a seminar on 11 April 2018 in London.
The seminar aims to discuss issues of importance to both jurisdictions, and to facilitate greater cooperation within the legal profession. Two panels of experts will discuss the latest developments, challenges and opportunities in France and England and Wales on two different topics:
The first panel will discuss the impact of Brexit on the legal profession both in England and Wales, and in France. Priorities for the legal sector, latest developments in the EU-UK negotiations, regulation of foreign lawyers in England and Wales and France – challenges under WTO rules, and trade models for legal services will be discussed.
Legal technology, or Legal Tech, that is the use of technology and software to provide legal services, has gained significant traction over the last few years. Innovation in the legal sector, how it changes the way legal services are delivered, and implications for the legal profession in both jurisdictions will be discussed.
There will be plenty of networking opportunities, including during the drinks reception after the seminar.
