FBLS Patron Lord Phillips presented with the insignia of Officier of the Legion d’Honneur by French Ambassador

Congratulations to Patron Rt Hon Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers who has been presented with the insignia of Officier of the Legion d’Honneur by HE French Ambassador Sylvie Bermann at her residence ( 22 May 2017)

Lord Phillips has been a patron of the Society since its early days. Initially as a High Court Judge in London and through his judicial career to appointment as the first President of the Supreme Court of the U.K. and since. In 1994 at the Journees Portes Ouvertes, he gave an English and Welsh law civil and criminal trial with a team at the invitation of the President of the Cour d’Appel Myriam Ezratty, soon to be the third President of the Society. He participated in the important events organised by the Society’s fifth President, Mike Butcher, to celebrate the bicentennary of the Code Civil in 2004 and was at the launch of the Prix Universitaire. He made a major contribution to the Society’s biennial Maritime Colloquium particularly in Britannia Naval College with sixth President Dominique Hascher. Lord Phillips is also a patron of Consultations Gratuites the francophone free legal advice centre in London.
